I enjoy piloting all weight classes of mechs from light to assault, each for their own advantages. So you'll see me in assaults sometimes, but by no means exclusively :)

I plan on going Light/medium exclusively. Assault's are neat and all, but they're not as versatile as Medium or Large.

light medium for me, but going to be tough since most of the lighter designs i like are clan/omni

I aways prefered Added or Shadow Cat - I love the long range punch in the face especialy if that mech is an Assault with only short range weapons - hehe he canot return fire , he canot catch me and he is DEATH , But the clans will be not be there at the begining so i need to find something in the IS arsenal to fit my stile maybe Hollander - but that mech dont have anything to backup the gauss rifle .

Shadowcat jock checking in!

in MWLL I love my shadowcat B and C.. just really fun to pick on assault mechs with the speed and hit and run capabilities.

Who needs Assault Mechs with this?

You and I, my friend, will own the battlefield. That is one of the best mechs EVER...

If I am running with a Clan, then I would be driving a Mad Dog as the first choice, a Nova as the second.

Running IS, T-Bolt first, a Falcon second

Warhammer if it's in the game in whatever form, or the Dragon if I'm feeling DCMS-ish.

I'd probably rock a Panther or a Jenner and any of the classic 55-ton series (Shadow Hawk, Griffin, Wolverine).

Assaults? They're fun once in a while, a BattleMaster or a Mauler for fun once in a while.

You know what? I'll pilot them all!

wow... back in the day, i was always partial to the ShadowHawk and Griffin on the tabletop. Think i'm gonna have to give them a go (if available) in MWOnline, just for fun.
So looking forward to seeing the pre-clan era represented in the game...gonna have to dig out some Van Halen and Ramones on Vinyl to really capture the experience right... heh

BattleTech 3025 Online seemed pretty balanced. There was a guy running a 65 ton mech, no one would face him. A friend and I joined his battle room with a couple of 30 ton mechs. It turned into the best mech battle I have ever had. My friend and I used some hills and our speed to popup and pick away at the thick armor. We almost had him, but he landed some good shots on both of us and we lost. It was a blast, he thanked us afterward for the great battle, mentioning he thought we we going to take him.

BattleTech 3025 Online is still the best BT/MW game IMHO. It never left beta due to massive EA cuts back in the day. Looking forward to MWO, I hope it will allow for great matches between the various tonnages.

Absolutely adore my Hollanders, would also be very partial to running a Raven with BAP and TAG if the support weaponry is effective.

I was a beast in every mech.. so won't be a problem :)
I'm sure most people will use only 2-3 mechs though. The ones that seem to dominate.

I really hope the Owens makes it in, as it's my favorite little light mech from MW3, toss in the vulture and my gaming needs are sated. (Though on the topic of assaults, I wonder if we'll see the annihlator waddling around the field?)

Also: Lol at the urban mech banner,

Owens can't exist due to the timeline, it's built after the Clans invade and the Dracs start fielding omni-mechs. Vulture/Mad Dog is a no go as well, as the Clans don't invade until 3050, a year after the game takes place. That is not to say that these mechs won't find their way into game as the time line progresses! :)

On topic, I'm quite fine not playing an Assault mech, and I'm dying to see how they implement tactical combat with the different mech roles. I want my Wolfhound.

If they get the physical attacks sorted I will be willing to rock a Hatchetman. I won't be playing assaults for a few years. The really good assaults dont't show up until TR 3055 or later. A T-bolt or a Caesar will probably be my main ride.

The mechs with quirks and limitations are more fun than the latest shiny. If you can tear up an opposing lance with a tin-foil armored Jagermech AND walk away without an ammo explosion, you've got style.

Personally, I'd like to see a Vindicator, Wyvern, or Whitworth. The slow mediums are a nice niche, at least for the lower tonnages.
