3Rd Person View Feedback

Every person I have played with has decided that ultimately that view does not change game play in any way, if it helps new people awesome but really vets? Grow a pair and stop crying because honestly nothing major changed, there is nothing earth shattering about the view and in no way are you forced to use it. So you spotted a mech around the corner without him noticing you, big deal? That is your job as a scout anyway, get information without being detected and it was very easy to do that without a 3PV.
If you are going to quit about just do it? Everyone is tired of hearing your complaining and quite honestly nobody gives a rat's *** about it. Instead of wasting your own time complaining about it, actually just play the game and see if running around like that actually helps you in combat rather than just posting pictures of "Look a wild catapult appeared". And if you don't want to play the game then don't! nobody will miss you and then maybe you can do something with your time instead of whining.

A: It hurts, and you are always amazed at how nasty people can be. Some days you don’t want to deal with it. But you suck it up and try and understand why someone would call you an ***** or *******, or threaten you. I can’t tell you how many people complain, yet play dozens if not hundreds of matches a day, and spend significant amounts of money. I generally don’t take it to heart any more, especially when comments come from someone who has 100s or 1000s of posts. It’s the guy who has 1 post that I’m worried about. It took something significantly good or bad for them to come and make a post, and we tend to listen to them more carefully. And before you all go off about not listening to the core fans, we still listen to you as well.

For someone whose in his 30s and grew up with the original mechwarrior games this decision was really troubling. And the defaulting to 3rd person view seems like its really just a slap in the face to your core audience...just my 2 cents. I'll keep tabs on the game and honestly i'll probably get the itch to play it again and install it again at some point. But I sure as hell will not be giving any money to PGI after this.

Having downloaded the patch, I come to find out that I not only can't have my snappy screenshots of my freshly painted mech, I can't even have a good game because people will be peeking around corners on me in 3PV.
I'm disappointed. Like people have said, if this was for the n00bs, why not just have this option available in the Training Grounds? Let's face it, Training Grounds is where these new folks belong; if they queue live, not knowing how to drive a mech, they deserve to get their butts handed to them.
I'm disappointed in the fact that I bought into the Phoenix Package and now I'm still stuck with either looking through a cockpit window or my Battlemaster's big, honkin behind.
I'm not as disappointed as the Founders though. I feel sorry for them they got done like this.
This is definitely something that needs to be reevaluated, IMHO.

You want money I get that, but we are the ones who are paying paint your bills now.. Not these new players you are hoping for. I'm honestly not sure what more to say other then you promised and then you went back on it.
Sorry for my bad grammar. I'm using my phone lol.

I'd like to see you tactically use 3rd person on the fly to spot enemy positions from cover, and then quickly switch to 1st person to either jump snipe or ridge hump.
Cheers.

Before i forget, 3rd person feedback : it sucks.
Now, it's the second time i actually experience a company saying a lot of things and delivering nothing at best, and {Scrap} at least. I can understand the need to make the game more accessible to new players, and i am not against it...
BUT - is 3rd person really the best idea you had to keep new players ? Wasn't a real Tutorial ever considered ? Or adding more features YOU PROMISED like the community warfare, thus, adding more depth to the game itself ?
I love MWO, but i am tired of reading empty promises.
Many people, including myself, had faith in PGI and MWO.
If you continue down the path you took when you decided to make 3rd person view a priority, you might LOOSE more players than you will attract...

It doesn't mean squat that 3pv is even close to balanced. The point is they said it would NEVER happen that we would be forced to play with other players using 3pv if we did not want to. That is the issue. Not quitting, but not another cent!

********. I can safely peak over hills I intend to hump and pre-line my lane of fire before cresting. That alone is one advantage.
The free armlock is also a HUGE advantage for people that were bad at brawling.

I dont like 3PV and wont use it.
Played 10 matches since it has been put in and have seen nothing different if anything had a better day then usual.
So theres a que for hardcore mode that isnt used yet...
and they are still evaluating..
and now a large portion of the 1PV players are going to stop playing for a while..
i guess that gives PGI some nice stats showing a large jump in the percentage of 3PV players vs 1PV
i can hear it now
"look Bryan you are right the numbers show a even greater percentage of 3PV being used then we prediceted its a keeper for sure"

3pv is primarily a push to increase uptake on camo/paint sales. As you said yourself it is terrible to play and I can't imagine it actually being beneficial for new players. You can't even see your own legs.
When talking advantages, you have to look at the disadvantage you add to a light mech that would be hidden from view and nipping away like the flea mech post. 3pv will bring add balancing issues and hamper future mode implementation. With the current track record, it would be hard to argue PGI could keep moving forward while collecting and dragging a ever growing bag of unresolved issues. Also the disadvantage you say in using 3pv is moot due to just switching from one mode to other as needed.

I understand that PGI is in it to make a buck and draw as large a player base as possible (ie. the seven year old kids who can't figure out how to drive a mech in 1st person), but was this "improvement" really worthy of working on before fixing serious issues with hit registry, etc?
So, glad I spent another $80 bucks on the overlord package so that I can have my *** handed to me by people playing in 3rd person just because I refuse to do so.
Call me a purist, stupid, or old school.... just my two cents.
3rd person users WITH AIMING ASSIST may I add. Check it out.
Not as in 3rd party software. It's freaking built into the mode.
Try it, lock onto a target and you will see your reticule automatically snap to a part of the targeted mech when you move it close.

OK. I did. In F2P, players are content...one less piece on the gameboard. And I know I am not alone. Enjoy longer que times...
BTW, this is mostly about the fact that THEY LIED...not just the fact that most did not want 3PV.

They might listen to complaints on these forums, but they will listen to your asking for your money back, or not giving then any more money at all.
They will not receive any more money from me.

Aiming reticle has a vertical "dead zone"
-To see the issue go into 3PV, aim as high up or down as possible. After you have reached your maximum go a little more. Now go back. You will be able to move your mouse without the reticle moving. Not the case in 1PV.
Aiming reticle jumps when transitioning from lowest aiming point and up, then again going down.
Aiming reticle does not stay centered when aiming low in within the weapons ready status indicators.
Personally, these issues make 3PV unusable. Thus far it seems to only give a way to peek over hills, around cover, etc. Maybe is has something to do with my mouse settings? I have Smoothing at 1.0, Sensitivity at .6, and Acceleration at 0.
