All of you have spent money on Founder 'Mechs, Phoenix project and what not, it's too late. Ask for a refund? That's the most hilarious and childish reaction I have seen.
Now, why is PGI pushing 3rd person view in our throats? Simply to increase target audience of MWO. 3rd person view allow players to view their owm 'Mech (giving more sense to these pricey camo skins) and is much more user-friendly (interestingly, Hawken is doing well and has no 3rd person view last time I checked... but they have respawns, so yeah, to each game its tradeoffs). 3rd person view creates gameplay issues of course, like being able to "see around corners", but PGI ensured there is a cost to that: arms locked to torso in this mode, and no minimap.
I'm sure PGI will carefully watch player stats once this is released to see if 3rd person players are doing better than 1st person ones. I doubt they will. Just in case, I guess a 10-seconds animation when switching from one mode to another will surely help reduce possible abuse
Now, it's cries and whine everywhere... People claiming PGI lied may have a point, people claiming PGI is betraying the game or the universe are just completely lost. Mechwarrior online is a damn
GAME. Mechwarrior and Battletech are just fantasy universes. Mechwarrior franchise is NOT the future of warfare, not even close - scale and technology involved is close to hilarious even by today's standards, and were hard to sell twenty-five years ago when Battletech boardgame was released. Anyone taking a giant-robot brawl game where you can almost litterally run into your opponent, have to aim yourself manually and where radars can't detect a 100-tons mass behind a building as a "realistic simulator" of any kind need a reality check. Seriously.
Last time I read lore I saw nothing in BT universe forbidding 3rd person view... In fact, with your neurohelmet on why would a drone view so impossible to imagine in 3050? 3rd person view might be closer to BT future technology than all whiners can imagine.
And finally it's there so let's use it. Except Clan warriors because
they are hardcore. Mmh, might not be a joke after all.
