I remember caving on seismic after about the 3rd time turning the corner right into an AC240 assassination squad too many.
Now the 12 ER-PPC horde can do the same thing again and I am running blind again as a light. Way thanks. Lets just say I got used to it as a light.

Looking back that module was ill advised design idea to begin with, and I guess here we have the seeds of the next forum storm. As long as you guys that be are ok with that and know this and have contingencies ... well ok. I would call it like this -
total overkill, and to bring it back into the game in about 2 months there will be a resuscitation.
In the end it was a very good maneuvre to drain end game capital, even if that was not the intention.

At least now there is no wet noodle* launch for sour forumites to spoil.

*The lowest available form of soft launch, of course, one step below the v ia g.r.a fanfare variation

Jester is DOA, anything that is all energy and not a light mech is crippled by ghost heat.

Riiiiight...keep right on thinking that...I've been running my K2 as largely an energy boat since day 1 (MGx2 for mop up, but that's almost negligible.) I do just fine with it.

But they do now need to scale the shake so that LRM5s shake less than LRM20s etc.

And:
  • LRM5 shakes Lights and Mediums but not Heavies. LRM10 - shakes Heavies too but not Assaults.
  • AC/2 don't affect Heavies, (U)AC5 - Assaults. AC/10/20s - shakes all.

Indeed. And as the team's "eyes", seismic doesn't relay targeting info back to the team anyway. You might see their seismic pattern on your radar, but the rest of the team doesn't know they're there unless you tell them through text or voice chat.

I wish we could get those Scout Perks . I would kill for a button to hit that marks a location on map for my team to see indicating enemy positions. Nothing worse then trying to evade incoming fire and relay target info.....Especially in my Paper Locust

EDIT: And yes, they are horrible if you try to run more than 1.

Not long ago I used a traditional Cat K2 with 2 ER PPC's and a Gauss in 12v12 and did 880 dmg with it. So are you sure ER PPC's are horrible?

I am ok with the seismic change but the module does need a price reduction comparable to its usefulness.

What I am irritated about is NO CONTENT.

It is just my opinion but I am TIRED of new mechs. Always new mechs. How is UI2.0 coming along...'here is a new mech'. Any progress on CW...'here is a new mech'. Can you disable one base in assault and make it Attack/Defend...'here is a new mech'.

Just tired...

No Catapult hitbox fix? Well well, i'll be sitting in my Highlander handing out headshots to everyone who bothered to buy that oversized Jenner-F version. Welcome to the slaughterhouse. This is gonna be fun.

I bet you've never headshot me in one. The amount of times I've been shot through the cockpit in my Catapults is really low. BUT, it's still more than any other mech. Everyone seems to make it like it happens quite often. Maybe those guys shouldn't stare at other mechs then.

I hope that nobody seriously expects getting a refund for seismics, if they did that they'd have to refund stuff pretty much every patch when stuff suddenly doesn't please someone anymore. Not happening.

If you really hate seismics now and have no use for them whatsoever, you can just sell them and get half of your c-bills back. That's not a bad price to pay for having months of magic clairvoyance.

I have 2, and I'm happy that it's now a module that might be useful for some mechs instead of being must-have on all mechs. That was broken and needed to be fixed.

I have played in a bunch of games and I don't think i have ever seen an artillery strike or a UAV.

I seen the red smoke for artillery and air strikes but I never see them hit the ground

I wonder how much shake I can cause by repeatedly jumping up and down... can I use an earthquake to my advantage for short range combat... hmmm.

Used Seismic as it was. Will work out its uses as it is now. Not going to cry when something gets changed! Just get on with it! ADAPT! :) I might moan later.. . . . . :)

Sweet, as a light I'm gonna swap out my seismic wall hack for a UAV and make me some money.

On the other hand, seismic is still useful in conquest mode while I'm standing in a box for 2 minutes at a time.

Massive nerf to Lights who need to be in constant motion, but I guess it'll make 360 target retention more useful. Guess I'm saving up my GXP again.

360 retention is still useless, imo. You're much better off equipping target decay. If you let an enemy be in your back for more than 3.5 seconds without getting him in your sights again, what on earth are you doing anyway? Same reason why target decay does the job of 360 retention for streak users as well.

I am expecting a refund on Seismic Sensor to the full extent, all 6M CBs and GPX spent. This is not what I previously bought and it is Bait-and-Switch selling. I would never buy such Seismic Sensor.

...welcome to online gaming sir! Things do get balanced and they did warn us awhile ago. I'm doubting you're going to get any sort of refund though. Only way to do that would be to remove them from everyone which would probably also irk some people to find things missing.

Sorry it's no longer the only module in the game but maybe that will prompt some variety.

View PostSilverlance, on 05 November 2013 - 11:07 AM, said:

Ahhh. I see. That is pretty ******* lame then. Seriously? You can only detect vibrations using seismic sensor if you're not moving?

Enemy makes vibrations while moving, you make vibrations while moving. Considering your sensors are mounted to you all they should be able to pick up are your big stompy feet and planet-splitting quakes maybe. Which is sort of why in 08th MS Team the sensor was mounted to a support truck and not any of the Suits so that it could relay clean data. I imagine with in-game communication coming Soonand better range this might be a good support module. Instead of the mandatory module it's been.
