I think they will announce Solaris and the optimist in me hopes that those machines running 1vs1 matches will already have some Solaris alpha.

Also, I really hope they will announce melee mechs. That's the only thing that will make MWO stand apart any MW title so far.

I highly doubt this one, although it's more of a technical limitation than PGI just not wanting to do it.

Hey, there is no technical limitation in including hatchets (for some specific mechs).

Actually 5 years ago if you look up my threads I asked for the removal of the 1:1 timeline and PVE. I would on occasion mention the Mad Cat MK II. I would ask make a post or a tweet about randomly and rarely.

After 4 years of buying mechs I really never gave a **** about and we fight Tykayad 2-3 times already I figured it was time for my support to pay off.

Instead a bunch of the forums ruined the chance asking for the Kodiak.

So no my actual big letdowns was when they backpedaled on groups above 4 (got banned for it)
Prioritizing crap laptops over making a cryengine game
...and the constant delay of what most of us really wanted mechwarrior 5.

Remember I only stirred the pot for the MK II since feb. Everything before that was actual pushes for features to save the game.

It seems like hatchets could just operate like a point-blank autocannon, dealing full damage at their point of impact.

Regardless of mechanics, this is the one plausible scenario for me in how they could introduce new equipment, sort of.

Leg-mounted SRMs on a Crusader? Quads? Sure, neither has been done before on a mech yet. IS Omnis? Kinda, but we've done omnis. Doesn't seem as special, but who knows what's worthy of Russ's specific word selection here.

No kidding. Even if (EDIT: and that's a BIG IF since we don't know and I didn't notice any noteworthy nods to melee in the "lore" for this monstrosity) they announce that Melee is coming with the thing they could have used something more iconic like the Axman (another 65 tonner) or the rather coveted Hatchetman.

The presentations are still 3 hours away and PGI is already bombing terribly.

I'm disappointed and disgusted that they crossed that line, making their own design... But the actual abilities posted for it, it's neither OP or UP... Still no excuse to make it in the first place.

TBH, the mech LOOKS cool. But at this point, what makes us buy mech packs it's not the "something different" (which clearly this mech hasn't - Hatchetman on the other hand, would), but the nostalgia.

Creating n IS 65 tonner instead of releasing the Crusader (or even better, the Axman)? Who the hell is making those decisions?

The real question is, what was Russ drinking when he thought this would go over well? He's the boss and would have final say.

I am a bit upset

but I feel bad for Alex here, he got his shot at his own mech design, did a good lore write up behind it. Its nto a common mech because I see it as a Solaris mech ect. Alex did a great job imo...I just hope they fix the salt meter cause I was very upset until I realized its a Solaris Mech which I can live with. They need to announce some good stuff later and hopefully another mech..that's real....

Set for release in 2018. So the question is, what effect does this have on MWO, or is MWO being merged as the multiplayer facet of MW5? It would seem to make any further investment (not that I have in quite a while) into MWO a moot point for a game that could possibly supplant it.

I can tell you if it has the same kind of open-endedness of gameplay that the HBS Battletech game is supposed to have then MWO is a bygone item for consideration.

Piranha presentation is starting now, so we'll see how this unfolds.
