If you look below at the direct quote from yourself you will see that he does not need to learn to read as you have clearly stated you feel sorry for them.
Learn to remember your statements and don't contradict yourself.

It results in high scores from what I see on the list and what I seen in game. Which is the trap I guess. Sorry to anyone that got banned that really sucks. I feel sorry for them.

Many more might come.
Those 64 were certain of being cheaters.
The others in the grey area will soon be either banned or just left alone with a close eye on...

Since PGI installed some detection software. They warned people to stop too, so you might have had more who saw the warning and either haven't played or wipped it clean. Not surprising in the least.

No, you have no rights in MWO or the MWO forum.
MWO players and forum warriors are given a set of privileges by PGI.
MWO cheaters have all of those privileges taken away.

PGI banned the accounts and their alts that were caught using the hack, simple as that.

This ^

The value of MAC and IP is marginal in these matters and will only confuse the issue here.
(Although they could add weight for banning alt accounts, they are "easily" changed.)

The MAC address is identification of the network card (and should be globally unique) identifying manufacturer with an added unique serial number assigned to it from that manufacturer. They also only have local (network) significance and does not carry beyond your router. (neither does an IP address in the private address space i.e 192.168.x.x 172.16-31.x.x 10.x.x.x. wihch is swapped by NAT - well actually any IP using NAT) Software could of course collect and send this data but the TCP/IP stack does not retain this information.

But software running or your computer has more efficient methods identifying the computer and the only interesting information that could be gained from above would be the (router/NAT) global IPv4 address which will identify wihch ISP and generally your location, sort of anyway.

PGI could stop most cheating by setting up no heat, no ammo, never miss if within 40m of an enemy, no friendly fire, all terrain is wireframe servers. No need to cheat. People that want semi-god mode can have it....along with everyone else on the server.

(Yes, I am being sarcastic)

Completely uncalled for comment, talk about going overboard!.

Whats needed is an Appeals thread.
Basically the Accused gets 48 hrs to present anything that can prove their innocence, they can only log-in and post on that thread for said period.
PGI staff members are the only others allowed to post there, for the rest of us its read only, cases would be forbidden to be discussed elsewhere on the forum.

I like this idea and fully support it. but I would propose one modification...
Rather than make the appeals thread only for those appealing their bans and PGI staff members, how about making the appeals topic a series of private emails between the condemned and their judges...

Oh, wait... That's how they already do it.

I'm late to the party but nice of PGI to put the banned people on a publick pedestal for the sake of our mockery. Now, if we also get the logs of their hatemails (similar as in the video above, no names of course), I'm sure we're gonna have enough comedy to last for weeks. And this is just the first wave!

"Rights" is one of those words that has a very specific meaning, and the usual assumption is that if someone is depriving you of your rights, they are in the wrong.

So, let's explore this.

Do any of us have the "right" to post here?

No. This is PGI's playbox; they have the 'right' to do as they see fit, and to tell people to pound sand if they don't like it.

Use of the forums is a privilege, and like most privileges, there are obligations that go with it.

Like, not cheating.

Do you have a right for a redress of grievances?

Yes, *but* that doesn't necessarily mean you get to select the method. You can contact support to make your case. You can sue in a court of law. You could presumably push for legislation to correct a perceived injustice.

Good luck with that. But that's between you and PGI. They're under no obligation to give you a platform to disagree your issue here.

Your best bet would be reddit, but if you think the people here are brutal, you're going to be in for an unpleasant surprise.

By all means go forth and make your case - but the expectation should be that you're going to *make your case*, not just proclaim innocence. Since at least two people have admitted using the cheat, you're going to have a hard time demonstrating innocence.

And since this is the court of public opinion, and not a court of law, you're guilty until proven innocent

this is interesting information, thanks for sharing i wasn't aware of all of this or how it worked

the topic here is to prevent these players from making an alt account and cheating again, which is why people are discussing IP bans etc.
