Man I BEEN saying this. ppl try to explain things from our perspective that this should work or that cant work like that cause our science (mind you a thousand years in the past) says it cant. Never mind all the things in the game that are impossible by our science NOW but yeah you cant have that cause our science says no (even tho it says mechs are impossible too)

OK, for argument's sake, lets say that they figured out a system to run coolant lines from the engine through all the heat sinks. Wait...thats EXACTLY how these mechs have always worked the way they do. There is always coolant running through these things at all times in order to keep the mech functioning. The heat sinks are basically giant finned radiators that the coolant runs through where the surface of the sink helps to rapidly cool the coolant that is flowing through them. Like the radiator in your car. The fins on the sinks gives the sinks more surface area, which increases the exchange of heat.

A coolant FLUSH then is a massive ejection of coolant from the system, which has been interpreted by some to mean that ejecting the hot coolant will temporarily cool the components faster than normal. The problem MOST players have with coolant flush is not that it exists, but that in some games, like MW:LL, the flushing of the coolant doesnt have serious detrimental effect to the coolant system as a whole. Once you start ejecting coolant from they system, the mech must naturally begin to run much hotter than normal, until all the coolant is ejected and the mech simply cannot keep from shutting down, because it cannot even keep the fusion reaction at its core in check.

So basically, without something like coolant pods that take up tonnange and space, to be spefically used as a 'coolant flush' in the heat of combat, then 'coolant flush' is simply a way to reduce the heat in your mech for a few seconds to avoid immediate shutdown, so that the pilot can perform one last ditch thing before the mech is finished.

The 1 thing I don't want is this "List".

List
  • A minimalistic game in terms of technology and not leveraging the PC (w/ CryE 3), less a good mod/TC, more a proper AAA polished release (Tribes:Ascend an example), with just promises of it will get better when it already should have been.
  • A minimalistic game in terms of maps and game types, rehashing the same-old lack in variety, depth or creativity, allowing boredom to grow in the first months.
  • A Free 2 Play model that shortly after release becomes obvious that initially trying to play for free is laced with necessity and compulsion in order to compete on a level playing field. The 'free' therefore would be the hook and the lie which breaks the model in compelling people, and in not being able to really play for free without enduring disadvantages. Likely ruining the longevity of the game with your own hands trying to grab too much. Produce quality and then you will earn without having to be overreaching.
  • Trying to please everyone with a game for their unique gaming tastes (RPG, FPS, MMO), or succumbing to the forum squeaky wheel, would please no one. People have seen this time and again with high profile games. The seasoned devs need to make the game that they envision and 1st enjoy playing, then we'll have something special.
  • No Real Money Auction House ;)
  • Everything being able to be purchased with money. If there will be several 'upgrades' to weapons and/or modules, to help preserve the F2P model level playing field, these should not be able to be purchased by real monies, but only unlocked by earning in game XP(or equivalent cash non-transferrable).
  • Don't rush the game to public if it's not somewhat epic on release, 1st impressions have lasting impact.
  • I don't want to see a great opportunity, an epic MW IP, missed.

Kinda this. Also the fact that using a coolant pod would completely **** up your coolant system beyond the point of even having one.

were does it say Cold fusion. Honestly, may have missed something.

Where does it say they're using hot fusion? Hot fusion would require that you literally shrink Sol (our sun) down so it fits in a reactor, and even then you wouldn't be able to contain it. Cold fusion is logically the only way they're running those reactors.

What I don't want to see at any point in MW:O life span is - Any Item, equipment or Tech that does not already exist in BT /Mechwarrior as we know it. I think that pretty much covers the vast majority of some previous mech game ridiculousness without having to list the offending game or games in this case.

I always thought a pilot in an extreme situation, could slap the shutdown override button and then hit the coolant flush ONE TIME, in order to stave of shutdown for one more second in order to put one last salvo into the guy that is about to kill you...and then you were done. Your mech basically had no more coolant and was bound to shut down permanently and leave you and your mech vulnerable to whatever the current battlefield situation has in store for you. The only way to get your mech functioning again would be to get an infusion of coolant prior to restart.

Agreed, I don't think coolant flush is that bad insomuch as nobody's actually implemented it very well. MW3 was the closest though, IIRC you could get two or three shots out of it.

If you wanted to implement coolant flushes with any degree of reality, based on what the lore says about coolant pods, you would hit the flush and the coolant tank would pump cold coolant into the mech's bloodstream and fill the coolant pod with hot coolant.

This would mean that a coolant flush would rapidly drop your heat, but flushing coolant again would probably raise it. You could get multiple coolant flushes, but you'd have to wait for the coolant in the pod itself to cool down lower than the hot coolant cycling through your mech already.

So basically, allow an infinite number of coolant flushes, but it only works once every 3 or 5 minutes or something. The net effect is the same, really, but it can be reused :)

If the double armor/double internal structure thing is right theyre already failing this

While it may be a bit of a double standard this I can handle. TT armor ratings I don't think would stand up well to the ROF that most pilots are going to put out once a target is painted. I think this armor translation will only add to the overall enjoyment of the game.

I have bad news for you, every mech can be freely customized, that already breaks immersion. All weapons have 100% accuracy, that also breaks immersion.

... all weapons should have 100% accuracy, its the pilot that screws up the shot...

dark ages came up with pretty much every crazy/stupid mod for ever weapon ever, light PPC's heavy ppc's plasma cannons, thermal/optical invisibility systems... every house has its own custom weaponry which has such small resemblance to the original that it might as well be an entirely new weapon

we know its a fusion reactor, enough said. besides, who says that in 500-1000 years (think about how far things have come for US in even one HUNDRED years, now multiply that by 5-10 and see if you can even fathom what it will be like physics wise. im not trying to make anyone mad, i just think "because you cant today" does not mean "you cant ever" this is science-FICTION after all...

The ability to make the lighter mechs more nimble. Such as crouching, moving in a mechanical prone or crouched position, leaning, that sort of thing. Mechs are suppose to be able to utilize myomer which is like synthetic muscle. I think Making mechs more organic and physically versatile is key to making them a little more intresting then just a walking tank type thing. Obviously your heavy mechs wont be able to crawl on all fours or kung fu kick, but I truly think a Raven can drop kick a hunchback if you know what I mean.

check out sarna.net. most of the DA/Jihad era tech is nuts and retarded. Word of Blake literally invents Thermal/Optical camouflage... Dark Ages was retarded, and I vote should be stricken from the record. Besides, the books went from being political and personal with action bits to being cheesey action novels with some people thrown in there for memory's sake

I like the more tank-like look of mechwarrior 4 style mechs, however, those mechs dont really fit with canon very well, because like you said, we are talking synthetic muscle here. light (especially light humanoid) mechs should be able to be pretty numble. i think also that adding armor/weight/size should limit mobility accordingly, so that assaults should really for the most part be walking turrets

In my opinion the book stop when the main Title changes from BattleTech to Mechwarrior..... effectively ruined at that point. not because of the name but because of how theyre written.

I disagree. I think though that Items should always have fixed values, no "set by player" value. why should you have to keep say every LRM launcher you ever salvage?

Griefer spam.
I would hope there is an 'ignore' function that has the capacity to ignore the number of kids who miss their dads trying out their schoolyard vocabulary when their mom isn't watching.

Sure ..it's entertaining to be reminded that some younglings should have been eaten when their bones were still soft ..but ....
..it detracts from tracking that atlas with my medium lasers trying to melt his face off.. mk?

ok if you think of the actual peramiters of Mech design and ability.. some of you need to get a clue.. alot of the cropuching is unfeasable at this time.. if you want a crouchy type thing go play armored core.. if you want true to the facts mech piloting.. this is the game.
