Are you willing to risk no further MW titles in the future, though?
Here is a novel thought: Why doesn't the community, for the first time since the very earliest days of closed beta, actually try working with PGI as opposed to fighting them every step of the way? If you want them to listen to us, we need to be willing to listen to them. Right now we have a standoff. The developers may want the best thing for MWO, but the "community" would deride the good ideas and good intentions just because it came from the developers. And then scream if the devs are late on those ideas.
That is not how to foster communication. It is a two sided process, and the increased communication from the developers is a step in the right direction from THEM. We need to do our part too if the devs are ever going to take its community seriously again.
yeah i would risk further MW titles in future, it is still and will remain to be a much beloved setting for me.
The developers have a problem, they are pulled in so many different directions that it is impossible to please everyone all the time, this is the same in everything, not just games. We all have different tastes and ideas of what we want something to be so we can get maximum enjoyment from it. just so happens that this time they have made something that i find to be a terrible waste of the battletech Ip.
For me, i would say throw balance out of the window, really is not important for me. People always find ways to break balance anyway. Focus on solid gameplay and features that reward thinking outside the box. And the ability to turn a loss here into a victory elsewhere. Balance for me is a fine line between making everything the same.
For others, balance is everything.
Both are valid, its all just a matter of taste.
Now with this in mind i feel the only way foreward, not just for MWO but across the whole industry is to ship games with full Mod support. Let people make up their minds what they want and dont want, and give them the tools to change things that they don't. Give us a fun baseline to start with then let everyone loose to create the game that they want. The ranked/unlock gameplay can even be kept, just needs to be a seperate part of the game. Look at BF2, Ranked vanilla servers for those that want it but modded unranked servers for those that have a different vision of the game.
So on topic, for me, pretty upset that the clan mechs are not being put in as is in Lore. They could have even balanced them by matchmaking 1 clan vs 2 IS or somesuch. Which would be fine for Lore as the clans often went into combat with a numerical disadvantage due to the bidding system they had in place.
