Why Are So Many Complaining About "op Kodiak"?

kodiaks offer similar firepower, more mobility, smaller footprint. of course they're the preferred clan 100ton heavy
anyone whose played in the invasion event knows that its kodiaks, timberwolves, ebon jaguars, and arctic cheetahs everywhere. occasionaly some huncback IIcs and novas.

I understand why quad dakka is used on the Kodiak-3. However, it is not a broken variant. Its advantageous torso hardpoints have plenty of Mech between them for you and everyone else to shoot at, and they must be exposed to do anything. The Kodiak-3 is not an instant "I Win!" button. It does not have magical deflector shields that you have to first punch through. High hardpoints do not change the fact that it still has to facetank to kill you.
If you want to claim that it punishes doing potato things more than most Mechs, then I could probably agree with that. If it gets the drop on you somewhere you cannot quickly get into cover, then you are likely toast. That would happen to you if a dakka Dire Wolf or King Crab do the same thing.
It is still a big 100-ton assault Mech that cannot move any faster than 70kph. It has devastating firepower, and it should. It cannot wreck everyone with impunity from 1000m, it has to close to at least medium range to be effective. It generally gets focused fire from the enemy whenever it is spotted. If you are unable to escape or evade it, then one or more of the following is most likely true:
1. You were alone, somewhere you should not have been, with no cover nearby.
2. You are in something big enough that it should have been with other similar Mechs that could collectively bring it down quickly.
3. You tried to trade with it.
4. Your team folded when a Kodiak-3 led push crested a hill suddenly, or did not focus fire.
The only blatantly OP thing in this game is communication and teamwork. The game even makes it easy for everyone. Sadly, too many players do not take advantage of it.

That one is dead, same time the quirks went away, Ghost Heat was multiplied 15 times
The Poke Bear is the most useful, and the inferior DakkaBear of 2*10 2*5 is used as a replacement.
Inferior, but adequate

You're the culprit I meant to quote.

If you're referring to the time stamp posted, I'm afraid to inform you you're wrong

I can't believe how many people wanna try to say an assault with direwolf level firepower and atlas level survivability with heavy mech speed and jagermech placed hardpoints isn't op (oh and they all still have quirks, lol keep defending it, guys). It's literally the best of every world. But whatevs, people gotta protect their crutch mechs.
I will call every kodiak a Krutchdiak until the day i quit playing though.

I’ll bite.
No other mech puts up damage numbers like it, over and over again. 2K to 2.5k easy, without even trying hard, regardless of skill level.
More than that, I love the elitist jack-offs on this thread.
Get good.
If you think the Kodiak is OPed you suck.
What a bunch of clowns.

To me, this is the biggest fault.
If there's a "Suck more" and a "Suck less", then there's a problem with the game and it only serves to make less variation and stale gameplay. Whether you prefer "Salt and Vinegar" or "Barbeque" chips, in the end, both are chips, and taking either one should be a matter of taste and choice, not one being better than the other.
Also, if you're "Dragging the team down" by taking one mech over another (Not as in taking a Dire Wolf for a light rush, but taking, say, a Summoner over a Timber Wolf), yet again, there's a problem with the game.
...but then, PGI has the numbers, and while they do have some mechs that go up and down with scaling and quirking, there are also some mechs that PGI seems to put on a pedestal that will never get dialed back.
Usually, "Good" mechs like the Kodiak stay that way until it's available for C-bills and there's another new-hotness mech of the same weight class looking to displace them, but if Russ is pitching a tent for Kodiaks, it will be a forever-must-have design like the Stalker, Raven, or Timber Wolf.

You realize I have nothing invested in the KDK-3 and I don't think they're OP because I am quite simply not afraid of them and I don't feel any more threatened by them than I do a Vindicator, right? Honestly, if you're whining because the big bad bear touched you in a naughty place and it keeps happening over and over again then that's on you, man. Because it doesn't happen to me, and I don't even own a KDK-3 and the KDK-2 I do own hasn't seen much action since I mastered it.

Oh oh, and don't forget, we're the only idiots that still use the Imperial system of measurement and refuse to switch to the much easier to understand Metric system.
